A compassionate charity for bereaved parents

giving empty hands purpose

At our core, we are a charitable organization dedicated to helping bereaved parents through the therapeutic acts of baking and weaving. We also empower those experiencing loss to take charge of their own healing while supporting a community that provides resources to others facing similar hardships.

As a charity for pregnancy and infant loss

our values

Community to lean on

Our supportive community offers a safe space where those experiencing loss can find comfort, share experiences, and discover pathways to healing and transformation. Together, we create a network of strength and hope that empowers each member to make meaningful steps toward healing.

Grace to heal

We offer a compassionate space for grieving and thoughtful support to help those coping with pregnancy and infant loss. Through baking and weaving, we cultivate an environment where individuals can find solace, process emotions, and navigate healing at their own pace.

Hope for those lost

We strive to provide purpose and reassurance, and ultimately create hope during challenging times. Through our creative offerings, we nurture a gentle environment where those suffering can find meaning, connect with others, and manage grief knowing they are not alone.

The meaning behind the mushroom

our story

Just as a mushroom can thrive in the dark, Margot’s Mission believes that even in the shadow of grief, new purpose and healing can emerge. By offering these creative outlets, the organization aims to help parents process their grief and provide friends and families with meaningful ways to offer comfort when words are not enough.

Every loss due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant death deserves to be remembered and honored, and Margot’s Mission is dedicated to helping parents find small comforts as they navigate their journey of healing.

Finding small comforts

a note from the founder

On Thanksgiving Day 2023, we suffered the unexpected, heartbreaking loss of our daughter Margot Soren Miles at 19 weeks.  After hearing the words no parent should ever have to hear, "I'm sorry, there is no heartbeat", we were plunged into the darkest days of our lives. Despite being surrounded by love and support from family and friends, we struggled to find purpose in those early weeks of our grief.  Isolation and pain became our daily companions and my arms physically ached from the emptiness of being without our baby.

Seeking solace, we began baking bread and weaving blankets for the cold winter months ahead—finding quiet joy and purpose in the act of working with our hands and creating something from nothing.  These simple, but impactful tasks were a soothing reminder that even after loss, creation is still possible.  From this small beginning, Margot’s Mission was born.

We believe that every loss—whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant death—deserves to be remembered and honored. By offering grieving parents simple yet meaningful outlets to process their loss, we hope to gently lead them toward healing and hope. Through this journey, we have learned that we are not alone and we seek to bring that same assurance to the 1 in 4 families just like us.
